Outcome: Since the RCP, Dr. Sarwar published his findings in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology.
In addition to his publication, Dr. Sarwar has completed a time-drive activity-based costing analysis of IR procedures for HCC treatment in collaboration with Professor Robert Kaplan from the Harvard Business School. These results were presented at the 2019 Society of Interventional Oncology meeting (winning the People’s Choice Award) and at RSNA 2019 (Damir Ljuboja, a Harvard MD MBA student has been awarded an RSNA Trainee Research Prize for his work on TDABC). Dr. Sarwar and Professor Robert Kaplan are in the process of combining the cost data with institutional outcomes to develop a value-based alternative payment model for HCC. They will soon be submitting their manuscript on this work for publication. The RCP was tremendously helpful in crystallizing this work.
