Research
The value of clinical research.
SIR Foundation strongly encourages research initiatives that advance patient care. We support the development of trials, clinical registries and other research programs.
Clinical research to improve outcomes
SIR Foundation supports diverse research initiatives in IR. This can involve investigating a drug, device or procedure to evaluate health outcomes, improve patient care and medical knowledge.
Uterine Fibroid Symptom Health-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire
The UFS-QOL is a self-reported questionnaire used to measure both a patient's objective pre- and post-treatment symptoms (e.g., bleeding, cramping) and subjective experience (e.g., a patient feeling "blue" or "less productive").
Increase knowledge through clinical trials
SIR Foundation supports a variety of studies to advance IR. Involvement has included subject enrollment and raising awareness in the IR community.

Trial
C-TRACT Trial
C-TRACT(Chronic Venous Thrombosis: Relief with Adjunctive Catheter-Directed Therapy) is a multicenter, randomized trial led by Suresh Vedantham, MD, FSIR, of the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University in St. Louis.

PRESERVE Trial
PRESERVE is the first large-scale, multi-specialty prospective clinical research trial to evaluate IVC filters use and long term follow-up.

Trial
ATTRACT trial
ATTRACT was designed to evaluate the ability of pharmacomechanical catheter-directed thrombolysis (PCDT) to reduce the incidence and severity in patients with acute proximal deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

EMBOLIZE trial
The EMBOLIZE trial is a first-of-its-kind prospective, randomized controlled trial studying the effects of ovarian vein embolization (OVE) in reducing pain in women experiencing chronic pain due to pelvic venous disease (PeVD).
Clinical trial
Clinical registries. Collecting data, improving quality.
Clinical registries collect data on a specific population defined by a particular disease, condition or procedure. SIR Foundation encourages these endeavors as they support evidence-based research that can ultimately help improve quality and patient safety.

Thermal ablation versus surgical resection of small-size colorectal liver metastases (COLLISION): an international, randomised, controlled, phase 3 non-inferiority trial
(The Lancet) For patients with small-size colorectal liver metastases, growing evidence suggests thermal ablation to be associated with fewer adverse events and faster recovery than resection while also challenging resection in terms of local control and overall survival. This study assessed the potential non-inferiority of thermal ablation compared with surgical resection in patients with small-size resectable colorectal liver metastases.
