Frequently asked questions
How many abstracts can I apply with?
A separate full application (with all required documents) must be completed for each abstract. Only those abstracts accepted for oral presentation will be considered.
I have a letter of support from an SIR member. Do I need to submit a letter or endorsement?
No, if your program director is an SIR member and has provided a letter of support, you do not need to submit a letter of endorsement. A letter of endorsement is only necessary if the individual submitting your letter of support is not an SIR member.
Does the applicant have to be the principal investigator (PI) on the research project the abstract is associated with?
For the Constantin Cope Medical Student Research Award, the applicant does not have to be the PI. The applicant does have to play a meaningful role in the research project. For the Resident/Fellow Research Award, the individual must be the PI or co-PI on the project.
I received an SIR Foundation research award in the past. Am I eligible to reapply?
Recipients of an SIR Foundation research award are not eligible to apply for the same award in subsequent years.
What is my abstract control ID number?
The abstract control ID number is six digit number that can be found by logging into the SIR abstract submission website on sirmeeting.org.
