SIR is bringing its 2021 Annual Scientific Meeting to your community in March with a completely online event.
The Annual Meeting Committee and staff are already hard at work developing a vibrant and engaging #SIR2021, and we are confident we will deliver the valuable and high-quality programming you expect from the Annual Scientific Meeting.
Over the coming months, as we unveil our educational and scientific programming, we will also roll out our plans to bring the IR community together outside the session rooms with alternative formats for our events, committee meetings and Expo hall.
Stay tuned, as we announce new and exciting facets of our meeting of the future, including SIR Foundation activities and events.
The 2020 Gala, SIR Foundation's only fundraising event of the year, was cancelled due to COVID-19, but our work and the research of our grant and award recipients continue. To learn more about this new fundraising initiative, visit sirfoundation.givesmart.com.
A look back at the 2019 Gala
SIR Foundation celebrated 30 years of illuminating innovation at its Gala on Sunday night, which honored John Abele, FSIR, with the 2019 Frederick S. Keller, MD, Philanthropy Award. Mr. Abele accepted the award from his home in Vermont.
SIR Foundation Chair Jeremy C. Durack, MD, MS, FSIR, of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Development Division and Gala Committee Chair Theresa M. Caridi, MD, FSIR, of MedStar Georgetown Hospital, served as co-hosts for the evening.
The event also featured guest speaker Rahul A. Sheth, MD, from the MD Anderson Cancer Center, who has received three SIR Foundation grants and recently obtained NIH funding. During the inaugural balloon auction, attendees received a balloon for their generous donations to SIR Foundation.
In total, the 2019 Gala raised $553,000 for SIR Foundation. Thank you to all who made the evening such a success.
