Legs For Life® - The Largest, Most Inclusive and Comprehensive National Program for Vascular Disease Screening, Awareness, and Education
Launched nationally in 1999, Legs For Life is a national education and screening program dedicated to the cardiovascular health of the community. The program focuses on diagnosing peripheral vascular disease (PVD), abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), venous disease, and carotid disease. The primary goals of Legs For Life are to educate the public, primary care physicians and the medical community; to identify patients at risk, and to strengthen collaborative relationships among health care professionals who treat these conditions.
Over the life of the program, Legs For Life has established September as National Peripheral Vascular Disease Month, hosted vascular screenings on Capitol Hill, screened nearly 250,000 people covering every state in the continental U.S. and Hawaii for PVD and nearly 30,000 for AAA. The program has also served as a catalyst to mobilize the vascular health care community on raising awareness of peripheral vascular disease, AAA, and stroke.
