Industry Phase of Campaign

Transforming the practice of medicine is a fundamental principle of interventional radiology. With that comes the onus of proving our procedures work. SIR Foundation is the mechanism through which we seek to establish the safety and efficacy of interventional radiology.

The Discovery Campaign, launched initially in 2007 with an SIR membership phase, is a major fund raising initiative that will further the growth of minimally invasive medicine into new areas of discovery. 2010 marks the initiation of the Campaign's outreach to industry for support.

Strengthening this commitment to research ensures that IR physicians remain at the front line of innovation and that industry will have a strong voice in the specialty's future.

The SIR Foundation invites your company to join with us to keep the pioneering nature of interventional radiology alive, vibrant and expanding, as we journey together into the future of modern medical miracles and breakthroughs.

Please join members of the SIR to illustrate our collective dedication to the spirit of innovation and discovery in IR.

Member Phase of Campaign Surpasses Goal

Members Can Still Contribute to the SIR Foundation Discovery Campaign

To ensure that IR professionals are poised to be pioneers and leaders in the future, SIR Foundation must have a predictable source of unrestricted funds. The Discovery Campaign is intended to amplify the success of the Annual Fund, and all SIR members are strongly encouraged to make both the Discovery Campaign and the Annual Fund part of their giving strategy.

Many of your colleagues (including 100 percent of SIR and SIR Foundation leadership) have made five-year commitments to this important effort. To date the SIR membership has raised over $2.5 million toward this important effort.

SIR members advance Discovery Campaign beyond goal

Donations to the membership phase of the SIR Foundation Discovery Campaign have not only reached the initial goal of $2.5 million but exceeded it. The current amount raised for this phase of the Campaign is $2,713,419.03 with more donations arriving daily. The initial stage of the membership phase closed at the end of 2009, however, the Campaign will continue to solicit and receive donations from SIR members after that date.

Many SIR members have already made incredibly generous contributions. In comparison to our last fundraising effort, IA2000, to which 6 members donated $25,000 or more; the Discovery Campaign has already received 19 member donations of this amount. The SIR Foundation is extremely grateful to all those SIR members who already generously contributed to the Foundation during the Discovery Campaign. Many thanks to all of you. You will be recognized at our annual meeting in March.

For those members who have not yet donated, it is not too late. Please consider making a positive investment in your future by ensuring that interventional radiology remains vibrant and important for the rest of your career. Donating the collections you receive from one major procedure per year for five years will help to validate present and new procedures, guarantee that these procedures will continue to be available to patients and make sure that interventional radiologists will continue to be reimbursed for them.
