SIR Foundation is dedicated to advancing the clinical needs of interventional radiology by specializing in developing investigators trained in conducting pivotal basic and clinical trials research. By strategically focusing resources with the intent of increasing and enhancing the clinical needs of interventional radiology the SIR Foundation has initiated a new program structure that proactively fosters research priorities in the areas of clinical research, research policy, and research education. These priority areas drive our program, grant-making, and fundraising decisions.

The emergence of interventional radiology as a medical specialty over the past three decades has changed the face of modern medicine. The ability to use technology to provide medical treatments that do not require large incisions, and offer less risk, less pain and shorter recovery times than surgery has been one of the most significant medical advances in recent years. The opportunity to expand the field of interventional radiology with research to develop new devices, better medications and enhanced procedures offers a possibility for many persons to see significant impact from their contributions.

SIR Foundation is a scientific foundation dedicated to fostering research in interventional radiology for the purposes of advancing scientific knowledge, increasing the number of skilled investigators, and developing innovative therapies that lead to improved patient care and quality of life.

The Foundation is committed to developing and enhancing innovative, minimally invasive, image-guided therapies from inception to mature clinical application and to conducting educational programs in the service of its mission.
